Arizona 9 Motor Hotel

       The Arizona 9 Motor Hotel, situated in the picturesque town of Williams, is a living testament to the spirit of the American West and the historic allure of Route 66.       Originally known as Sutton’s Hotel Cottages in 1927, the establishment began as a gas station with four cottages built by R.P. Thurston. Over the years, it expanded to 23 stuccoed adobe-style cottages. After a period of operation, the hotel went out of business in 1946. However, it was given new life when the Whiting Brothers purchased and rebranded it as the Arizona 9 Motor Hotel in 1965.

     The addition of a Historic Neon Sign in 1939 became an iconic feature of the hotel, attracting travelers and later gaining recognition in the 2009 movie "The Canyon." The hotel's strategic location in Williams, known as the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon," made it a popular stop for those embarking on adventures to the natural wonders of the Southwest.

     Today, the Arizona 9 Motor Hotel has undergone renovations to preserve its mid-century charm while incorporating modern comforts.
